Vanga Shopify App Review (Feb 2023)
If you’re looking to scale your Shopify store, increasing revenue is likely one of your key priorities. Of course, everybody loves bringing in more cash, but the question is: how can you earn more?
It’s well known that upsells are an excellent place to start. As much as 10-30% of all eCommerce revenue is generated through upsells. Furthermore, 60% of salespeople used upselling and cross-selling in 2021 as part of their sales strategy.
Whereas cross-selling encourages customers to increase their order value by adding other related products to their cart, upselling shows customers a better product version that costs a bit more. So, for example, you might advertise a larger size or a more premium finish at checkout for just a few dollars extra.
So how can you, as a Shopify store owner, use upselling to your advantage?
Vanga AI might be the answer. This Shopify App automates the upselling process using data and AI. So, in this review, we’ll look at everything the app offers. There’s lots to cover, so let’s jump straight in!
Vanga Shopify App Review: About Vanga’s Shopify App
As we just hinted at in the intro, Vanga is an AI-fuelled app focused on the art of upselling. Everything is automated, so it doesn’t require much of your input.
Since the app launched in October 2021, it’s been added to over 590 Shopify stores and produced more than $330k in upsell revenue.
Getting started is simple. Just head over to the Shopify App directory and install the app. Then, Vanga’s AI will kickstart and optimize your upselling strategy using its in-built A/B testing.
Vanga Shopify App Review: What Does It Do?
As you’ve probably already guessed by now, Vanga exists for one purpose and one purpose only. To automate upsells across your Shopify products to increase your revenue.
After a customer makes a purchase, Vanga presents them with an upsell suggestion. For example, this could be a more premium product offered at a discounted price to entice the customer. Your buyers are then prompted to decide on the quantity of the upsell they wish to purchase.
Then, they can review the shipping cost and subtotal on the same checkout page and proceed straight to payment without entering their details again.
Best of all, you’re not limited to offering customers just one upsell. Instead, you can list multiple upsell offers for customers to browse through.
Vanga Shopify App Review: Vanga’s Key Features
Now that we’ve covered the basics, let’s take a closer look at the key features on offer:
Automate Post-purchase Upsells
One-click upsells are added to each order automatically. More specifically, they appear after the checkout page and before the thank you page.
Upsells can be offered at the full price or discounted. You get the option to set the maximum discount percentage you’re willing to offer. Vanga’s AI will automatically choose an appropriate discount when proposing an upsell. However, it won’t breach the maximum you’ve pre-set. The app’s algorithm decides this figure based on previous data and A/B testing.
Grow Average Order Value (AOV) Using Data
Vanga draws on customer behavior to decide which upsells are the most relevant for them. You also have access to Vanga’s analytics to better understand its performance. For example, you can review generated revenue, average conversion rate offers, successful offers, and top upsells from the analytics page.
No Funnels Required
Vanga is super simple to set up. It doesn’t require you to spend money or time building complex sales funnels. Everything is automated and ready to go without you having to do much.
Automated A/B Testing
Vanga learns which upsells work best and which discounts convert the most by using A/B testing to assess customer reactions. This means the program works better with time as it optimizes its service. When it comes to discounts, Vanga tests the effectiveness starting at 0%, ranging up to the maximum pre-set discount.
Combine Automation With a Manual Approach
You still have the option to set up manual upsells if you have a specific product combination or deal in mind. On top of that, you can even propose downsells to offer more value and wow your customers with transparent deals.
You can create simple automation rules, like adding a second upsell if the first is accepted or adding a down-sell if it’s declined. You can also set specific products or categories as triggers to upsell specific items and add the exact discount you want.
Vanga can help you boost mobile sales with its fully optimized one-tap offers that look great on any device.
Reach Your Customers
Vanga is available in over 20 languages and works with all credit cards, PayPal, and Shop Pay.
Vanga Shopify App Review: Pricing
Vanga AI comes with a 14 day free trial. During the trial, you will not be charged anything and you will get the app without any limitations. As a result, you can see how long it takes for upsells to rake in more revenue, and if you don’t make more money, you don’t pay a dime. So you have nothing to lose!
Beyond the free trial, Vanga AI comes with two premium plans:
The Standard plan costs $9 per month and is best for Shopify stores with less than $80,000 monthly revenue. Once you’ve exhausted any credits, your upsells simply keep running, but you’re charged a 5% fee on your upsell revenue.
If you make more than $80,000 revenue per month, the Pro Plan comes into play. This is priced at $99 per month with a 2.5% fee on upsell revenue. But, again, a commission is only charged after any upsell credits have been exhausted.

Additionally, you can find Vanga on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

What Do Customers Say About Vanga?
Right now, Vanga is still a relatively new Shopify app. It currently has only ten reviews on Shopify’s marketplace, averaging a 4.8-star rating. Many customers praise its customer support and the app’s effectiveness, naming monthly revenue increases of 10-20%. Many reported making additional sales from the first day of installation.

Vanga Shopify App Review: FAQs
Last but not least, let’s bring this Vanga Shopify app review to a close by answering some frequently asked questions we hear about the app:
Do upsell discounts conflict with Shopify discounts?
No! Automatic discounts aren’t applied to products part of a manual offer created with Vanga. Your Shopify Discounts apply at the checkout level before Vanga kicks into action. You can monitor the automatic discounts available to customers within your ‘Offer history’ tab and make adjustments where necessary.
How can I create manual upsells?
Although Vanga is fully automated, it doesn’t rob you of the ability to create manual upsells and discounted offers. There’s a “Manual offer” tab inside your Vanga Upsell Assistant. You can select individual products or product collections to trigger a specific upsell. You can also decide on a title and subtitle to entice customers.
What’s a down-sell?
If your first upsell goes ignored, Vanga gives you the option to include a down-sell. You could opt to display this product if the first upsell is declined. The down-sell is the less expensive option – however, it should still increase the order size.
How do I get upsell credits?
Vanga only charges a commission on upsell revenue after exhausting your upsell credits. After that, you get $100 worth of upselling credits for free each month on every plan. On top of this, you can earn upsell credits by referring Vanga to a friend. If they install within seven days of using your invitation code, you earn an extra $1,000 for each store you can sign up. Your friend also gets an additional $1,000 credit.
Vanga Shopify App Review: Our Final Verdict
All in all, Vanga appears to be a super-simple, intuitive upsell assistant for your Shopify store. Its dashboard is easy to manage and allows you to create both manual and automatic upsell offers without hassle.
Positive reviews praise the app for increasing average order values. Some reviews even report that more orders came in on the app’s first day.
The upsell principle is a tried and tested one, making Vanga an attractive free Shopify app to add to your store.
That said, Vanga’s pricing can seem a little confusing. However, the plans are actually pretty generous once you get to the bottom of what’s on offer. They only start charging you once you start making significant money using Vanga. It’s also worth noting that you’re not automatically upgraded to Vanga’s premium plan. Instead, your upsells will simply stop until you’re ready to upgrade or get more credits the next month. So there won’t be any nasty surprise charges to your account!
The bottom line: we recommend giving Vanga a shot. If it doesn’t work for you, you won’t have left any money behind. On the flip side, if it does work out, you’ll enjoy an extra $1000 in revenue for free before you even think about moving to a paid plan. With so little to risk and so much to gain, we say: Go for it!
